tacobelldogToday, my greatest comedy idol has passed away. That's right, Gidget, the Taco Bell Chihuahua has been taken from us at the tender age of 15 years young.

She charmed millions without ever saying a word, and managed to make fast food tacos adorable. Gidget, the Chihuahua best known for her Taco Bell ad campaign, died from a stroke on Tuesday night at age 15.

As a young Hispanic male, growing up without many Latino role models in the media, I owe Gidget the Taco Bell chihuahua my life. Without her, I am 100% sure I'd be in some alley, doing drugs, or as we call it in my native tongue, drogas.

Although the voice for the Taco Bell spots belonged to Reno 911's Carlos Alazraqui, the posture, the mannerisms and the extremely large ears, all stemmed from Gidget the dog.

In her passing, let us not linger on her mysterious and controversial death, tied and gagged in a kinky sexual position (doggy style), drugs flowing through her system (worm medicine), and, most shockingly of all, Burger King bags littering her multimillion dollar condo.

Let us instead focus on the positive. She taught people how to order Taco Bell in Spanish. Now when Americans visit Mexico, they can quickly locate the nearest Taco Bell franchise. That's progress.

Thank you, Gidget. We will miss you. That is, until we forget you existed again.
